Who did people choose?
Andrew Cuomo was not that far away but did not win the race, Mamdani did.
Mamdani, who belongs to an Indian Bollywood family on his mother’s side and an Indian academic (and Ugandan) on his father’s side.
His mother is Mira Nair, a renowned Indian film director. One of the controversial movies Mira directed was Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, released in 1996. She has around 21 films to her credit.
Mamdani comes from a very well-off family. Does he understand what it’s like to be poor? Does he look at rich people in America and never ask about rich people in South Asia? Does what he says apply in South Africa and South Asia as well? He might have gone to Film City many times I think, have you seen it? There are slums there too. You have attained a lot. What is your global picture, as New York is a global hub. Not just Africa, not just Asia but also from other parts of world. There are global people in America.
Mamdani was born in Uganda and went to South Africa when he was 5 years old. Then he was immigrated to the USA when he was 7 years old.
Many people of Indian origin are involved in US politics, starting with the wife of Vice President JD Vance.
So, can we consider Mamdani to be of Indian origin? His father is an Indian Muslim, while his mother is of Hindu origin. It must be a respectably rich in cultural spectrum. Hence, he can easily see the migrant population in all spheres.
So, Mamdani’s slogan was something like,

Mamdani has strict views on Palestine and the people there.
He may not support Jewish protection, who knows, I wish he would give Jews protection.
Mamdani has very different views.
Well, people voted for him in New York, maybe because they think he can change things for them.
Maybe it’s just voter-wooing tactics.
Being from a film family I wanted to know how many movies has Mamdani watched?

People are tired of the things they struggle with in their daily lives.
So, here comes what he can give, especially to immigrants.
He says to Trump in his victory speech, “To get to any one of us, you have to get through all of us.” What a nice message to people.
