Turkey is a NATO member. And it was the 36th NATO summit in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. It can surely be called Turkey’s negligence in security, given that world leaders were to visit Ankara. And the President of the USA had to be taken in a separate airplane meant for military purposes rather than in Air Force I, which is the President’s plane for visits. All because of terror-related threats right there in Ankara, Turkey.
The threat, as reported by Intelligence, was that Iran wanted to attack the current head of the USA. Does that ring a bell? If this can happen in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, then how can Turkey be safe for people from the USA or friendly countries to travel to? This is terrorism more than hatred. How lightly it was taken. Today it’s the head of America; tomorrow it can be Americans, too!
Are Iranians so hostile toward Americans that they want to harm the leader of the USA? There was a gunshot at the location, a missile threat, and 200 people were arrested in Turkey for threats related to this before the incident! Still, the threat loomed over the American leader. It was the alertness of the security team that kept everyone safe. Even if it meant taking him out in a truck to a different plane.
This makes Turkey an unsafe country for travel. Turkey was hit by a massive earthquake in 2023 that affected tourism. Now, a NATO summit that should have had very serious security protocols had this very significant, if not consequential, loophole that can’t be ignored and should not be forgotten.
This can mean Iran’s enmity toward Americans! Obviously, you are targeting the USA President, so how can you be friends and well-wishers for Americans then? That is the very definition of nationalism!
This can mean Turkey is a place of target for such incidents. Given that Turkey and Iran share borders, let’s hope tourists are safe in Turkey. We can only hope, given that Iran is like a dictator of the world oil supply, blocking the Strait of Hormuz, making all of us around the world experience high prices. Iran is showing its view of the world as a leader that wants to push the wrong things. Why is it not opening the Strait of Hormuz, after all? And how did Iran got access to Turkey land and air, to attack the American President? This is sponsorship of terrorism, which should not be accepted. One must learn from experiences of life, and this is what one should learn from and question: Is Turkey safe for Tourism? Did Turkey knowingly sponsor terrorism? And we did not hear anything from Turkey after this incidence. Did you? An apology? Some improvements? Something?
