The Universe is so big; even our galaxy, the Milky Way, is so big. How do we even imagine what other forms of life in the universe are like? Are other forms of life as intelligent as humans?
How do we talk to these species in the universe? Even on Earth, we use translators to understand what someone from a different country is saying. But in the universe, we can’t get a translator, as we don’t know their language.
So should we talk to other species in the world using sign language? But their sign language could be different. Maybe they don’t even have food on their planet. Maybe there are only ripe fruit juice that they drink, growing on their trees. Maybe muffins and pancakes grow like mushrooms! Who knows what other species in the universe are like. Leave the universe for now. Who knows what other species in the Milky Way galaxy would be like.
So, how do we tell them we are here, that they’re not alone in the universe, and that we’re not alone in the universe? And that we humans want to communicate to them if they are human friendly!
Sculptures and Stone carvings
Imagine we want to leave a hello message from Earth somewhere in the Milky Way galaxy.
Stone is perhaps the ultimate interstellar medium: unlike radio waves that disperse into background noise, or digital silicon that degrades in decades, high-density granite or basalt can preserve a message for millions of years.
To communicate with an extraterrestrial intelligence through carvings, the message must rely on concepts universally bound to physical reality rather than human language. Symbols we can add are as follows:
–Humans — and their forms, man, woman, they and children
-Universal Constants and Mathematics
-Fundamental Geometry.
-Chemical & Elemental Maps.
-Biological Anatomy & Gesture.
–Animals and birds, plants and trees of kinds
If we were to carve our civilization’s “first contact” monument into the face of a mountain today, what single truth about humanity would you want it to tell them? A man and a woman?
If we send the following stone carving showing our modern lives, then?
This would be a nice introduction to our human species to them.
But what if we can send more messages in a single carving? We have so many forms here on Earth; a single couple is not enough to depict it all. Then we can have the following?
But we do have little angels on Earth: the children. And let’s add color to the stone carving; who knows if other species in the Universe like colored hello messages. Here we have these:
Now, we do have emotions here on Earth, and love is the bond that is enriched here among others. So what about a marble sculpture showing ballroom dance, for other species to tell how and what kind of culture we humans on Earth are?
This shows the sophistication of our modern society: the way we dress up, our development, separate genders, and more. You can add other genders here, too. The sky is the limit. Think about what you want to include in sculpture. Here, I’ve only covered a few points. I am sorry I could not include other dance forms and the many other aspects of cultural diversity. You can add them; you can add history too, horses and trucks with wheels too, to show where we have progressed; maybe they may be encouraged to make wheels on their planets to meet us soon. Who knows if they are far behind us in developments, or if they may be far ahead of us in developments. They can’t be far ahead of us; otherwise, they would have sent their spaceships to Earth to say hello by now. So, why don’t we do it then?
All these imprints of Earth in the Universe would make other species understand us, and that we want to talk to them.
Who knows if Aliens reply to us with Stone carvings and sculptures from their side.
We have to start communication with other species and other life forms in the Universe. And don’t be scared if we get the following as a reply from them, on a stone carved with the following:
We show them our gadgets too.
We show we have supercomputers on Earth.
We show them our phone too.
What if we send aliens our religious symbols: a cross, an om, a pyramid, or even a trident? An alien mind may see them through the lens of geometry, mechanics, and physical function. Or maybe they share our religious beliefs? Maybe God guides them as well?
And where in the Milky Way should we leave it?
Whether we send these engravings and sculptures to the “Galactic Billboard”: Sagittarius A, High-Density Globular Clusters (e.g., Messier 13), or the Trappist-1 System (or Nearby Red Dwarf Clusters), an astrophysicistcan decide this; let’s make what they need to send. Let’s make these sculptures and then talk to other forms of life.
